Drain and rinse the black beans.

In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher.

Add breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix well.

Shape the mixture into patties.

Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.

Toast the buns.

Assemble the burgers by placing a black bean patty on each bun, and topping with lettuce, tomato, and avocado.
