Rinse the masoor dal (red lentils) under running water until the water runs clear.

In a pressure cooker, add the rinsed dal, water, chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt.

Close the pressure cooker lid and cook on high heat until you hear 3 whistles.

Let the pressure release naturally and then open the lid.

Stir the dal well and garnish with fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
