  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  5. Add the sliced carrots to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Pour in the water and season with salt and black pepper.
  7. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet.
