Preheat the oven to 325°C (160°F).

In an oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, combine the white beans, chopped onion, minced garlic, tomato puree, water, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, whiskey or bourbon, salt, black pepper, paprika, and liquid smoke.

Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Place the pot in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened.

Remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Serve the spirited baked beans topped with crumbled bacon.
