Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent.

Add diced potatoes, jalapenos, vegetable broth, salt, black pepper, and cumin powder. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Use an immersion blender or transfer the soup to a blender to puree until smooth.

Stir in lime juice and adjust seasoning if needed.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
