Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

In a large pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil.

Add the rinsed rice to the boiling water and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the rice is tender but still firm.

Drain the cooked rice and set aside.

In a separate pan, heat some oil and sauté the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger until fragrant.

Add the chopped carrots and green peas, and cook until the vegetables are slightly tender.

Add the turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and black pepper powder to the pan and mix well.

Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir until all the ingredients are well combined.

Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice.
