  1. Soak the fava beans overnight. Drain and rinse the beans. In a large pot, cover the beans with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour or until the beans are tender. In a separate pan, sauté the garlic in olive oil until golden. Add the cooked beans, lemon juice, salt, and cumin to the pan. Mash the beans slightly with a fork or potato masher. Cook for another 5 minutes. Serve hot with chopped tomatoes, onions, parsley, and a drizzle of olive oil.
