Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.

Add chopped tomatoes, vegetable stock, salt, black pepper, and chili flakes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and let the soup cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the soup until smooth.

Return the soup to the pot and heat over low heat for a few minutes. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
