The first veggie burger was created in London in 1982 by Gregory Sams, who named it the ‘VegeBurger’.

This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 30 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 15.

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas.
  2. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, red onion, garlic cloves, fresh parsley, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until well combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the breadcrumbs. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Form the mixture into 4 patties.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by a veggie patty, tomato slices, red onion slices, and pickles. Top with the top bun.
  8. Serve the veggie burgers with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
