Peanut butter was first introduced as a health food in the early 1900s and gained popularity for its high protein content.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix flaxseed meal and water. Set aside for 5 minutes to thicken.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together vegan butter, peanut butter, and brown sugar until smooth.

Add the flaxseed mixture and vanilla extract to the bowl. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.

Fold in the dark chocolate chips and chopped peanuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.

Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the dish for 10 minutes.

Transfer the brownies to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
