Tostones
Tostones are a popular dish in many Caribbean countries, such as Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba. They are made from green plantains and are often served as a side dish or appetizer.

Peel the plantains and cut them into thick slices.

Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

Fry the plantain slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.

Remove the fried plantains from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Using a tostonera or the bottom of a glass, flatten each fried plantain slice.

Return the flattened plantains to the frying pan and fry them again for another 2-3 minutes on each side until they are crispy.

Remove the tostones from the pan, sprinkle with salt, and serve hot.
