In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, celery, and red bell pepper. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add ground cumin, chili powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to coat the vegetables with the spices.

Add red lentils, kidney beans, canned tomatoes, and vegetable stock. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until lentils are tender.

Stir in fresh cilantro and lime juice. Adjust seasoning if needed.
