  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot. Cook for another minute.
  4. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well.
  5. Add rinsed basmati rice and stir to coat the rice with the spices.
  6. Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  7. Remove the pot from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  8. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped cilantro.
  9. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the rice before serving.
