Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until onion is translucent.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, sugar, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve the sauce over cooked spaghetti or use it as a pizza sauce.
