Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and red bell pepper. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in ground cumin and smoked paprika. Cook for 1 minute.

Add corn kernels and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, drain and rinse garbanzo beans. Set aside.

After 15 minutes, use an immersion blender to blend the soup until smooth. Alternatively, transfer the soup to a blender and blend in batches until smooth.

Return the blended soup to the pot. Stir in garbanzo beans and kale. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until kale is wilted.
