  2. Cut the tomatoes in half and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  4. Roast in the oven for 30 minutes, or until the tomatoes are soft and slightly charred.
  5. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  6. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
  7. Add the roasted tomatoes and vegetable broth.
