  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the asparagus pieces to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Using an immersion blender, blend the soup until smooth. If you don't have an immersion blender, you can use a regular blender and blend the soup in batches.
  6. Stir in lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Let the soup rest for 5 minutes before serving.
