  1. Wash and soak the toor dal for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, water, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 4-5 whistles.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  4. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  7. Add chopped methi leaves and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add all the spice powders and mix well.
  9. Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well.
  10. Simmer for 5 minutes and garnish with cilantro.
  11. Serve hot with rice or roti.
