  1. Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add chopped onions. Saute until golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and green chili. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  4. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pressure cooker. Stir well.
  6. Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  7. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and give it a good stir.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
