Rinse the lentils and set aside.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Add cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Add lentils, tomatoes, and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until lentils are tender.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
