Pearl onions are small, marble-sized onions that are sweeter and milder in flavor compared to regular onions.

Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the pearl onions for 2 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the blanched onions and cook until they start to brown, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the honey, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let the onions simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, until the glaze thickens.

Remove from heat and let the onions rest for 5 minutes before serving.
