  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic cloves, and cook until onion is translucent.
  2. Add broccoli florets and vegetable broth to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until broccoli is tender.
  3. Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. Alternatively, transfer the soup to a blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Serve hot and enjoy!
