  1. Wash and remove the stems from the collard greens. Chop the greens into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Cook the bacon in a large pot over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the pot.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes to the pot with the bacon grease. Cook until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the collard greens to the pot and stir to coat them in the bacon grease. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the vegetable broth, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the collard greens are tender.
  7. Remove the pot from the heat and let the greens rest for 10 minutes.
  8. Serve the drunken collard greens with crumbled bacon on top.
