Curried Dal
Dal is a staple dish in Indian cuisine, commonly prepared with various lentils and spices. It is rich in protein and a popular choice among vegetarians and vegans.

Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.

In a large pot, add the soaked lentils along with water. Bring it to a boil and then simmer for 20-25 minutes until the lentils are cooked.

In a separate pan, heat some oil and sauté the onions until translucent.

Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for another minute.

Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they soften.

Add all the spices (turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, chili powder, and salt) to the pan. Mix well.

Once the lentils are cooked, add the cooked onion and tomato mixture to the lentils. Mix well.

Cook for another 5 minutes until all the flavors blend together.

Stir in the fresh chopped cilantro and lemon juice.

Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
