Soak the chickpeas overnight and boil until tender.

Heat oil in a pan and add star anise, chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chili. Saute until golden brown.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.

Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well.

Add boiled chickpeas, chopped dates, and salt. Mix everything together.

Cook for another 10 minutes on low heat.
