Soak the chickpeas overnight in water.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas.

In a pressure cooker, add the soaked chickpeas, water, and salt. Cook for 15 minutes.

In a separate pan, heat oil and add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Saute until golden brown.

Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add the cooked chickpeas to the pan and mix well.

Add water if needed and simmer for 10 minutes.

Garnish with fresh cilantro and lemon juice.

Serve hot with rice or bread.
