Wash and soak the chana dal for 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds.

Add finely chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Saute until golden brown.

Add chopped bell pepper and tomatoes. Cook until soft.

Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add soaked chana dal and water. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.

Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and add garam masala.

Cook for another 5 minutes on low flame.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
