Canned Chunky Tomato and Vegetable Sauce
Tomatoes were not introduced to Italy until the 16th century, yet they have become a staple in Italian cuisine.

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.

Add diced carrot, celery, bell pepper, and zucchini. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Pour in canned tomatoes with their juice.

Stir in dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.

Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Transfer to a blender or food processor and puree until desired consistency.
