Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette into 1-inch thick slices.

Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until golden brown.

While the bread is toasting, dice the tomatoes and finely chop the basil leaves.

In a small bowl, mix together the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven and let them cool slightly.
