In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened.

Add cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.

Add black beans, pumpkin puree, and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes.

Use an immersion blender or transfer to a blender to puree the soup until smooth.
