Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes.

Finely chop the onion, ginger, garlic, and green chilies.

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.

Add chopped potatoes and peas. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add soaked and drained rice to the pan. Mix gently.

Add water and salt. Stir well.

Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
