Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.

Add bell pepper and mushrooms, cook until softened.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
