Bolognese sauce traditionally contains meat, but this lentil version is a delicious vegetarian alternative.

Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened.

Add lentils, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, vegetable broth, salt, pepper, and dried oregano. Stir well.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, or until lentils are tender.

Stir in cooked pasta and fresh basil leaves. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
