Cook wild rice according to package instructions.

In a large bowl, mash black beans with a fork or potato masher.

Add cooked wild rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, oats, flaxseed meal, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well to combine.

Form the mixture into patties and refrigerate for 10 minutes.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
