Soak the white beans overnight in water. Drain and rinse.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, carrot, celery, and minced garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.

Add soaked beans, vegetable broth, rosemary, thyme, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour or until beans are tender.
