Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.

Add chickpeas, tomatoes, vegetable broth, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
