  1. Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add butter and melt it.
  2. Slice the tempeh into thin strips and add it to the pan. Cook until crispy, about 5 minutes per side.
  3. Toast the rye bread slices.
  4. Spread Russian dressing on one side of each bread slice.
  5. Layer the tempeh, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on top of the dressing.
  6. Top with another slice of bread.
  7. Heat a clean frying pan over medium heat. Add butter and melt it.
  8. Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown, about 3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove from the pan and let rest for 5 minutes.
  10. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve.
