Stuffed Vine Leaves – Authentic Turkish Dolma Recipe

Rinse the vine leaves under cold water and set aside.

In a saucepan, sauté the chopped onion in olive oil until translucent.

Add the rice, pine nuts, currants, dill, mint, parsley, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well.

Pour in the water and cook the rice mixture for about 10 minutes, until the water is absorbed.

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the rice mixture cool.

Place a vine leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down, and add a spoonful of the rice mixture near the stem end.

Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling, then roll it up tightly.

Repeat with the remaining vine leaves and rice mixture.

Place the stuffed vine leaves in a baking dish, tightly packed.

Slice the tomatoes and place them on top of the stuffed vine leaves.

Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the vine leaves are tender.

Allow the stuffed vine leaves to rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Serve warm or at room temperature.
