Grate the yellow squash, zucchini, and onion.

Place the grated vegetables in a colander and sprinkle with salt. Let them sit for 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.

Squeeze the vegetables to remove any remaining moisture.

In a large bowl, combine the grated vegetables, all-purpose flour, cornmeal, egg, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Spoon the batter into the skillet, forming small fritters.
