Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion. Cook until onion becomes translucent.

Add diced red bell pepper and crushed red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes.

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir well to combine.

Add dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and sugar. Stir again.
