Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Cook for 5 minutes until the onion is soft and spices are fragrant.

Add the sliced carrots and vegetable broth to the pot. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer. Cover and cook for 20 minutes until the carrots are tender.

Use an immersion blender or transfer the soup to a blender to puree until smooth.

Stir in lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
