Southern Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are not actually related to regular potatoes. They are a member of the morning glory family.
This is vegan and gluten free recipe. Dish can be prepared in 60 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 8.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Wash and peel the sweet potatoes, then cut them into 1-inch cubes.

Place the sweet potato cubes in a large pot and cover with water.

Bring the water to a boil and cook the sweet potatoes until they are tender, about 10-15 minutes.

Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.

Add the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the pot.

Mash the sweet potatoes with a potato masher until smooth and well combined.

Transfer the mashed sweet potatoes to a baking dish.

Sprinkle the pecans and mini marshmallows on top of the sweet potatoes.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown and the sweet potatoes are heated through.

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
