The term ‘veggie burger’ was first coined in London in 1982, and since then, it has become a popular alternative to traditional meat burgers.
This is vegan, gluten free and high protein recipe. Dish can be prepared in 30 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 16.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas.

In a food processor, combine chickpeas, red onion, garlic cloves, fresh cilantro, ground cumin, ground coriander, bread crumbs, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until well combined.

Form the mixture into 4 patties.

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Toast the hamburger buns.

Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce leaves, tomato slices, red onion slices, and avocado slices. Cover with the top half of the bun.

Serve the Smackin' Veggie Burgers immediately.
