Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, sliced carrots, and celery. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Add cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Add chickpeas, vegetable broth, and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Remove from heat and let the soup rest for 5 minutes.

Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to puree the soup until smooth.
