  3. Add the tomatoes, turmeric, cumin, coriander, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Drain the lentils and add them to the pot. Stir well.
  5. Add enough water to cover the lentils and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until the lentils are tender.
  6. Stir in the fresh cilantro and lemon juice.
  7. Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
