Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add chopped onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender.

Add green peas, vegetable broth, bay leaves, thyme, salt, and black pepper.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Remove bay leaves and thyme sprigs.

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.
