Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.

Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir well.

Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil.
