Rinse and drain the navy beans.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic cloves. Sauté until golden brown.

Stir in tomato paste, paprika, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.

Add navy beans, vegetable broth, and water. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until beans are tender.
