Muhammara is a traditional Middle Eastern dip that originated in Aleppo, Syria. It is known for its rich flavor and vibrant red color, which comes from the roasted bell peppers.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the bell peppers on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for about 35 minutes, until the skins are blackened and blistered.
  3. Remove the peppers from the oven and transfer them to a bowl. Cover with a plate or plastic wrap and let them cool for about 15 minutes.
  4. Once the peppers are cool enough to handle, peel off the skins and discard the seeds and stems.
  5. In a food processor, combine the roasted peppers, walnuts, breadcrumbs, pomegranate molasses, minced garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. Process until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  6. Transfer the muhammara to a serving dish and garnish with chopped parsley.
  7. Serve the muhammara with pita bread or crusty bread slices.
