Rinse and drain the kidney beans.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Sauté until softened.

Stir in cumin powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

Add the kidney beans and canned diced tomatoes with their juice. Stir well.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Stir in fresh cilantro and lime juice.
